Chris Dunsmore, ELI Director

Before coming to CMU, Chris Dunsmore taught EFL in many different settings in the Republic of Korea including Samsung and The KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) Graduate School of Management. He also taught ESL at Michigan State University. He has a B.A. in English and an M.A. in TESOL from Michigan State University.

Sarah Evenden, Office Professional

Sarah is new to the ELI but has worked as an Office Professional at CMU for six years.  She has lived in Mt. Pleasant for most of her life and is currently studying at Saginaw Valley State University.  She will graduate with a BA in Graphic Design with a minor in General Business Administration.  She is pictured with her husband, Joe.

Steven Couture, Faculty

Steven Couture received his BA in Humanities (with emphases in English, Chinese, and History) and MA in TESOL from Michigan State University. He has taught ESL and EFL in the United States and in Taiwan, is fluent in Chinese, and has traveled extensively in Asia.  In the photo, Steve and his wife Maya are in front of their favorite lilac bush.

Mimi Doyle, Faculty

Mimi Doyle graduated summa cum laude from Sung Shin Women’s University, in South Korea, with her B.A in French literature, and she later earned her M.A in French language. She taught French and Korean for the University of Maryland in Japan. She has also taught French, Japanese, and ESL at Ferris State University in Michigan. In 2004, she received an ESL Teaching Fellowship from Sichuan University of Science and Engineering in China. She is fluent in English, French, and Korean.  She can also speak some Japanese, and Spanish.

Maiko TakasaMaiko Bronson, Faculty

Maiko Bronson joined the ELI staff in the summer of 2002. She received her BA in English Language and Literature from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies in Kobe, Japan, and her MA in TESOL from Central Michigan University

Claire Mitchell, Faculty

Claire Mitchell received her BA in Italian from the University of Michigan and her MA in TESOL from Central Michigan University.  Currently she is expanding her expertise in language in the Speech-Language Pathology program at CMU.

Lisa vonReichbauer, Faculty

Lisa vonReichbauer received her BA in Spanish Language & Latin American Studies and MA in TESOL from Central Michigan University. She enjoys teaching and encouraging students to experience language and culture out in the community.

Maggie Mieske

 

Maggie Mieske received her bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing, and Spanish from CMU.  She is also currently studying in the TESOL Master's program at CMU and is a graduate assistant instructor in the ELI.  She has three grown children, and one darling granddaughter, and lives with her husband and assorted critters in Mt. Pleasant.

Jack Drolet, Faculty

 

Jack got his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in English literature, and received a master's degree in linguistics from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

He has taught ESL most recently at the University of Arkansas, and before that in Chile and in Argentina. He has also spent time traveling with his wife, Kavita, in India. She is from the state of Gujarat, which is located in the western part of the country. He is interested in language learning technology as well as implementing findings from learner and native speaker corpora into ESL curriculum, but his primary interest is in doting on his newborn baby daughter, Sophie.
